SAN JOSE, Calif., April 30, 2007- Wavion™, a company transforming the metro Wi-Fi market with a new category of access point (AP), today announced the appointment of Benny Zilberstein to the newly created role of corporate vice president of sales and marketing. Zilberstein, the firm’s vice president of sales, will now manage both responsibilities as part of his mandate.
“Benny is an execution-focused executive who brings a unique combination of abilities in sales, marketing and business strategy that are key in building our business momentum with system integrators, service providers and resellers,” Moshe Fourier, Wavion’s CEO, said.
Benny Zilberstein joined Wavion in January 2006 with a wealth of leadership experience in the telecommunications and networking industry. Before joining Wavion, Benny held sales and marketing positions with Cisco and Riverhead, where he was the prime mover of the entire DDoS market in North America and championed the creation of Cisco-based managed DDoS mitigation services with tier-one ISPs, including AT&T, Sprint and MCI. Before Riverhead, Benny served in various sales, marketing and product management positions with Gilat Satellite Networks and its subsidiary Spacenet. Benny holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, Cum Laude, from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, and an MBA from the graduate school of business at Tel-Aviv University.
“I am eager to help Wavion execute its mission to transform the metro Wi-Fi marketplace,” Zilberstein said. “I look forward to working with a phenomenal team of successful entrepreneurs and respected engineers as we take Wavion to the next level.”
The digital beamforming technology embedded in Wavion’s spatially adaptive APs provides extended range and throughput, minimizes dead spots, and requires far fewer units than other outdoor APs to cover the same area. Wavion’s APs support the spectrum of critical public safety and consumer applications demanded by broadband deployments around the world.
“Wavion’s customers can expect the best possible products and service from our team,” said Dr. Mati Wax, Wavion’s founder and CTO. “We are committed to helping communities make the most of wireless Internet connections by designing and developing superior metro-scale access points.”
