United States Army Portfolio Management Purchase, Largest Single Smartbuy Contract Order to Date

ProSight Software, Services Facilitate Enterprise-Wide Portfolio Management, Streamline IT Spending and Effectiveness.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-April 21, 2005 – ProSightΠInc., the leading provider of portfolio management solutions, today announced that the United States Army has selected ProSightΠPortfolios software for enterprise-wide portfolio management. The five-year, $5 million software and services contract was awarded through the General Services Administration’s (GSA) SmartBUY program. ProSight is the fifth vendor to establish a SmartBUY contract, and the Army purchase represents the largest single order to date under the program.

Under the terms of the agreement, ProSight is providing a global, enterprise license for 5,000 users to its ProSight Portfolios and ProSightΠFast Track solutions for capital planning and investment control (CPIC), project portfolio management, application rationalization, and FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act) governance. ProSight will support the alignment of the Army’s information technology (IT) investments, from business functions to war-fighting capabilities, planned to be more than $5 billion in FY 2006. Further, ProSight will assist in identifying potential redundant or inefficient systems for consolidation/elimination, while supporting Army budgeting decisions. The contract, driven by the Chief Information Officer/G-6 level, was executed by the Army Small Computer Program in Fort Monmouth, N.J.

The Army this week issued an internal memorandum discussing the importance of the Army’s Enterprise Portfolio Management implementation and a forthcoming roll out plan.

“As part of the government’s larger commitment to continually improving efficiencies and results, agencies are focusing on gaining a better understanding of how IT dollars are spent,” said John Cimral, CEO, ProSight. “Using portfolio-management-based processes and tools, as well as a collaborative system of record, is essential for optimizing results and eliminating waste. ProSight’s ability to rationalize systems and projects while establishing stronger IT governance and investment oversight has produced substantial savings within government agencies to date.”

The SmartBUY contract with ProSight enables the Army to move ahead with portfolio management processes and tools, including rationalizing approximately 4,500 systems, managing project portfolios, tracking security assessments, and assisting in capital planning. Worldwide implementation, training, and deployment are expected to take 12-18 months. The SmartBUY purchase vehicle is available to all civilian and military agencies.
