ALTAIR JOINS THE 450 MHZ ALLIANCE

Altair Semiconductor Becomes Member of 450MHz Community to Drive LTE in 450MHz Frequency Worldwide

August 11, 2014 — HOD HASHARON, Israel & SAN DIEGO, California — Altair Semiconductor, the world’s leading developer of high-performance, single-mode LTE chipsets, and 450MHz Alliance, an industry association representing the interests of 450 MHz stakeholders, announced today Altair’s union with the 450 MHz Alliance. Leveraging its broad portfolio of baseband and radio chipsets commercially shipping globally, Altair brings the economies of scale benefit to the emerging 450MHz LTE market.

“We are pleased to welcome Altair Semiconductor to the Alliance,” said Igor Virker, Managing Director of the Alliance. “As an LTE 450MHz band pioneer, Altair brings product experience and portfolio that can help the Alliance in driving ecosystem adoption for this high quality spectrum.”
In November 2012, Altair Semiconductor became the world’s first LTE chipset vendor to offer a 450MHz-compliant product.

“Altair is excited to be joining the unique community of market leaders, dedicated to creating a global LTE ecosystem for this important band,” said Eran Eshed, Co-Founder and VP of Marketing and Business Development at Altair. “We view 450MHz as a great market opportunity, and look forward to supporting the Alliance in providing low-cost chipset solutions and driving the formation of a robust device and module ecosystem.”

Its low frequency and excellent propagation characteristics make the 450MHz band a very attractive and low-CAPEX spectrum band for broadband access and M2M applications. LTE operated in this band offers a highly spectrally-efficient alternative to legacy CDMA450 technology currently in use.
