Industry Veteran Named To Lead Expansion In Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Fort Lee, NJ, October 21, 2005 – Whale today announced that it is expanding its sales support presence in Central and Eastern Europe with the appointment of a new regional team headed by industry veteran Markus Borlinghaus.
The announcement reinforces Whale’s continued expansion in EMEA where it has established two new sales support operations in the Benelux and Northern European region in the previous quarter in addition to a strong presence in the United Kingdom, France and Germany. The new team will focus on increasing revenue in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as provide sales and technical support to a growing channel base in Eastern Europe.
Mr. Borlinghaus brings to Whale an extensive sales and operations background spanning the IT industry. He joins Whale from Peribit Networks where he served as Business Development Manager & RSM Central Europe and extended the company’s European reach, increasing cross continental direct and channel sales, growing the business by 138 percent. Prior to Peribit Networks, Mr. Borlinghaus served as Channel Engagement Manager and Group Manager for Cisco Systems over a period of 7.5 years. Mr. Borlinghaus brings to Whale more than 13 years of IT business and management experience. He also has trusted relationships with key European channel partners and also global and strategic enterprise customers.

Whale tripled its European channel partner base in the first half of 2005, and is continuing to expand its presence throughout the region, which currently accounts for over 45% of the company’s global sales.
