Mazlish to Bolster Leading SSL VPN Vendor’s Worldwide Distribution Channels.
Fort Lee, NJ, August 1 – Whale Communications, a leading SSL VPN vendor, today announced the appointment of industry veteran Douglas M. Mazlish to Vice President of Business Development. A seasoned executive in the networking industry, Mazlish will capitalize on an upswing in Whale revenue derived from distribution partners as part of Whale’s increased emphasis on channel and alliance programs.
Mazlish joins Whale as the leading SSL VPN vendor expands its focus on indirect channels and experiences significant growth in partner-derived revenue. Partner-generated revenue continued to increase in the first half of 2005 and now accounts for nearly half of Whale’s new business. Mazlish will lead Whale’s efforts to support and extend Whale’s partner base of Global Systems Integrators, regional integrators, VARs, ISVs, and hardware manufacturers.
Mazlish brings to Whale an extensive background in building channel programs and growing partner relationships. Mazlish comes to Whale from SMARTS, where he served as VP of Strategic Alliances and built SMARTS channel program and developed strategic GSI, ISV, and hardware manufacturer partnerships. Prior to SMARTS he served as VP of Business Development at Reefedge and as VP of Business Development at Winstar Communications. He also has held management positions at Citizens Telecom, Telecommunications Techniques Corp (TTC) and Hewlett-Packard. He has a MBA from NYU, a MS in Electrical Engineering from Tufts and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell.
“Doug’s appointment to lead our business development efforts attests to Whale’s continued commitment to grow its channel program and partner relationships,” said Roger Pilc, Whale’s CEO. “We are pleased to have someone of Doug’s caliber leverage his experience and know-how to assist Whale in continuing to increase our partner business.”
Recognized by industry analysts as a leader in the SSL VPN space, Whale’s SSL VPN is being used by Fortune 1000 and Global 1000 companies around the world including: Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mutual of Omaha, Loews, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Hasbro and Krispy Kreme.
“It’s an exciting time to join Whale,” said Mazlish. “Whale’s visionary technology and matchless value proposition in the space ensures that it will continue to be attractive to partners and maintain its market leadership. I look forward to leveraging this position and my experience to ensure that our partners will uniquely be able to provide their clients access on demand where others cannot.”
