Yoqne’am, Israel, April 12, 2011— Wavion™, a technology leader in metro and rural Wi-Fi with a new generation of Wi-Fi base stations, SYSCOM a distributor of telecom and video surveillance equipment in Mexico and ESTELM, a system integrator in Mexico, announced today the deployment of Wavion’s Wi-Fi base stations for traffic video surveillance in the city of Tlalnepantla, Mexico.
The project covers 42 video surveillance cameras, installed in critical places around the city, each
transmitting video rate of about 1 Mbps. The backhaul network is based on Wavion’s WBS-5000 base stations, working in the 5 GHz band, in conjunction with Wi-Fi CPEs, attached to each camera. The links are as long as 5 km, carrying the video information to the city council, where the monitoring center is located.
“We have selected Wavion’s Wi-Fi solution due to its robust and reliable performance and superior NLOS capability,” said Manuel Serrano, ESTELM’s CEO. “The city council is very pleased with the outcome. It has greatly improved the traffic monitoring and enabled more sophisticated control of the traffic flow in the city”.
Wavion’s carrier grade unique and powerful WBS-5000 spatially adaptive Beamforming base stations provide extended range, higher throughput and superior NLOS coverage. As a result, unlike conventional Wi-Fi equipment, they do not require costly high towers and can be easily installed on poles and yet provide very reliable and high quality links.
“Wavion is proud to partner with SYSCOM and ESTELM in this project in Mexico”, said Daniel Dominguez, Wavion’s VP Sales LATAM. “We are pleased that our superior coverage and reliability have significantly contributed to ESTELM success. It is yet another proof of the added value of our unique and powerful Beamforming technology to city-wide deployments.”
