Powerwave Technologies and Schema Partner in the Joint Development of MaxCOM™
Designed to Maximize Coverage and Optimize the Management of RF Networks,
ORLANDO, Florida – March 27, CTIA Wireless 2007, the world`s largest event for the wireless industry, Powerwave Technologies Inc., a global supplier of end-to-end wireless solutions and Schema, a leading global provider of network optimization software solutions, today announced an agreement to jointly develop an enhanced RF Coverage, Optimization and Network Management solution.
Designated MaxCOM™, this solution will augment Powerwave`s product portfolio and network management capabilities by incorporating Schema`s real-time, network-data based optimization technologies. This joint development program introduces a unique, closed-loop solution that continuously and remotely optimizes the network according to variable traffic data.
Operators who use Powerwave`s Netway Manager™, a network management platform, can remotely monitor and adjust network equipment to achieve sustainable high performance RF networks, while avoiding expensive truck rolls. MaxCOM™ will leverage Schema`s advanced optimization technology and will minimize the need for drive tests by utilizing comprehensive live mobile measurements to deliver optimal cell parameter configurations for variable traffic patterns. MaxCOM™ will integrate these capabilities to deliver up-to-date KPIs, accurate simulations and optimal network configurations, yielding better, faster and less expensive implementation of optimal network configurations. The result is low cost, continuous improvement of network performance based on automated engineering best practices.
“Our partnership with Schema allows us to continue to solidify our position as a global supplier of end-to-end wireless infrastructure solutions, including antennas, base stations, coverage and capacity systems, and Remote Area Network management and optimization tools,” said Ronald J. Buschur, President and CEO, Powerwave Technologies. “With MaxCOM™, Smart Clusters can be deployed in any wireless network to dramatically lower operational expenses associated with both network expansion and the migration from 2G to 3G.”
“Our work with Powerwave is part of a larger paradigm shift that the entire radio network industry is going through,” said Yosi Ben-Dov, Ph.D., CEO, Schema. “As wireless operators transition from 2G to 3G networks and face the challenges associated with introducing new data services, sustaining radio network KPIs at high levels is becoming part of their ongoing, daily network management routine. MaxCOM™ positions optimization squarely in the network management arena. By implementing MaxCOM™, operators can achieve and sustain peak network performance and ensure an ongoing, higher quality user experience.”
