Florida-Based Agency is First of Its Kind in State to Deliver Anywhere Remote Access to Key Applications in an Effort to Better Serve Children’s Needs.
Fort Lee, NJ – Whale today announced that child welfare agency ‘Partnership for Strong Families’ (PSF) chose Whale’s Intelligent Application Gateway solution to provide its nearly 200 employees in seven locations across northern Florida secure remote access to information.
PSF’s mission is to develop and manage a high quality, comprehensive community-based system of care for abused, neglected and abandoned children and their families. As the lead agency for community-based care in north Florida, PSF is charged with management of the organization, enhancement, coordination, and oversight of foster care and related services to ensure the safety, well-being and security of its children and families. For PSF it was critical that case workers be able to gain easy access to information. At the same time it was paramount for PSF that the information accessed remain confidential and that PSF maintained compliance with state-mandated policies.
“We have many case workers who visit the children and travel between sites. We wanted to facilitate their ability to better serve the children of the state of Florida. These children are our number one priority,” said John Cook, network manager at PSF. “This is the first deployment of its kind in Florida by a child welfare agency. We sit behind a state firewall and in addition to ensuring the privacy of information we have to comply with state regulations. Whale’s Intelligent Application Gateway solution was the only technology to meet all of our needs.”
PSF is providing access to a variety of applications and resources including internal Web-based applications from the state, email and a proprietary Oracle database.
Selected by leading organizations around the world, Whale’s technology, which integrates SSL VPN, endpoint security and application security components on a single appliance, enables organizational needs to drive access rather than technological or security limitations. Whale’s gateway solutions do this by providing granular intelligence into application and network resource behavior and the flexibility to deliver policy-based access dependent on user, application and/or resource and access location.
“It is gratifying that our solution is being used by an organization like Partnership for Strong Families,” said Roger Pilc, CEO of Whale. “The measure of a technology’s worth is in the value it brings to organizations. In the case of the Partnership for Strong Families we have helped directly in improving the day-to-day experience of children in need and that is very rewarding.”
Whale clients include Mutual of Omaha, Sentry Insurance, MCM Corp., Virgin Atlantic Airways, Financial Times, Regis University, Britain’s Labour Party, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Hasbro, Midwest Wireless and the Via Christi Medical Center.
