Whale Enables Enterprises’ Business Needs to Drive Technology Usage.
Fort Lee, NJ, November 21, 2005 – Whale today unveiled an Intelligent Compression Policy Engine, enhancing the performance of its Intelligent Application GatewayT suite of access products. The intelligent compression, which enhances Whale’s advanced acceleration capabilities, is in direct response to enterprise demands as applications increasingly become webified and widely-used applications, like VoIP, expend growing bandwidth.
In addition to standard compression capabilities, the next generation compression technology enables business needs to drive the technology usage. The Intelligent Compression Policy Engine identifies the user, endpoint and application or network resource and then determines dynamically whether to compress and what to compress. The ability to compress not only per application but also within an application ensures unmatched performance and scalability.
The compression engine surpasses standard compression technologies by offering the following:
. Maximized compression per application
. Selected compression of components within an application
. Optimized compression policy enforcement based on bandwidth of endpoint
. Reduced traffic per application
. Accelerated application functions
. Increased end user response time
. Decreased latency
“We are looking forward to leveraging Whale’s Intelligent Compression Policy Engine, which we anticipate based on our long standing experience with Whale’s product, to seamlessly accelerate our iNotes application by selectively compressing the components that we have identified as the slow links in the chain,” said Dan Harman, Lotus Notes Administrator at Lewis Group. “Whale is consistently advancing their technology with our business needs in mind. Enabling compression while being smart about how it is implemented will ensure that our CPU is never overloaded. Just another benefit of using Whale.”
The compression add-on is now generally available across Whale’s Intelligent Application Gateway product suite, including its Express Edition and Enterprise Edition.
“Our Intelligent Application Gateway solutions are purpose built to provide secure access based on SSL VPN, endpoint security and application security components that are driven by corporate policy. The compression engine attests yet again to our focus on comprehensive intelligent solutions that advance technology in line with enterprises’ business needs,” said Lior Kohavi, Whale’s VP of Product Management.
Selected by leading organizations around the world, Whale’s technology offers exceptional flexibility without compromising on security. Its gateway solutions provide deep levels of security policy granularity, enhanced user experience and easy integration into existing network infrastructures and key business applications and resources.
