As a Charter Member of ICSA’s SSL-TLS Consortium, Whale Helps Set Security Standards for SSL VPN Products
Fort Lee, NJ, Sept. 27, 2004 – Whale Communications, the leading SSL VPN provider, today announced that its e-Gap Remote Access Appliance has been tested and certified by ICSA Labs, a division of TruSecure Corporation. ICSA certification involves extensive testing which includes functional, security and cryptographic requirements. As a charter member of ICSA Labs’ SSL-TLS Product Developers’ Consortium, Whale helped drive the certification criteria which ensure worldwide security standards for SSL-TLS solutions.
“ICSA Labs was able to leverage Whale’s extensive experience in the SSL VPN market to help facilitate the creation of the ICSA Labs SSL-TLS (VPN) certification program,” said Brian Monkman, technology programs manager at ICSA Labs. “In such a highly competitive market, it is the commitment of industry leaders such as Whale to the ICSA Labs SSL-TLS Product Developers’ Consortium that leads to the highest security standards in the SSL VPN market today.”
The ICSA Labs SSL VPN Certification program is an independent and comprehensive process that rigorously tests, assess, and validates SSL VPNs in a simulated, real-word, Internet-worked environment on a continual basis. Unlike other testing organizations, ICSA Labs testing criteria are publicly posted for review by target industry groups such as vendors and industry experts.
“Coming from the security space and having pioneered much of the security deployed in the SSL VPN market we are proud to be a founding member of the ICSA Consortium to ensure standards worldwide,” said Daniel Steiner, Whale’s president. “We are also pleased that our SSL VPN received ICSA Certification as the process attests to our commitment to ensuring that enterprises will get the utmost security when selecting a certified product.”
Whale’s e-Gap Remote Access solutions are at the forefront of technology development in the SSL VPN market and are setting the security standard for anywhere remote access. Whale’s application aware technology, optimized for access to leading applications, also delivers the utmost flexibility. Whale’s solutions provide deep levels of security policy granularity, enhance user experience, and easily integrate and leverage existing network infrastructures. This translates into more remote access hours spent by companies’ employees and partners leading to a significant increase in productivity.
