UK Government-Sponsored Assurance Program Validates Intelligent Application Gateway Product’s Security Functionality
London, UK – Whale today announced that the Whale Intelligent Application Gateway product line has been awarded the CSIA Claims Tested Mark (CCT) certificate by the Central Sponsor for Information Assurance (CSIA).
The CSIA CCT Mark scheme is a UK government-sponsored assurance scheme which, through accredited independent testing, provides the public sector with confidence in the claims made by vendors about the functionality of information security products and services. CCT provides a basic level of assurance (equivalent to Common Criteria EAL1) to these products and services, and will give confidence to purchasers that vendor claims about security functionality have been validated. The scheme is aimed primarily at those products and services which may be purchased by the wider public sector, particularly the UK National Health Service, education, local authorities and criminal justice departments.
“Whale recognizes that government organizations in the UK are increasingly focused on mitigating risk and are selecting products that have been impartially validated against independent criteria,” said Mike Betz, Whale’s Managing Director of EMEA. “The fact that an independent authority like the CSIA has tested the Whale products and has found that our security claims are substantiated is another demonstration of Whale’s leadership and commitment to quality.
Whale’s product line – formerly called e-Gap® – contains SSL VPN, endpoint security and application security components in a single secure appliance which is widely used by many federal government and state and local agencies across the United Kingdom, United States, central Europe and Asia. It is providing policy driven secure access to business critical applications and data for remote workers, contractors and consumers. The CCT Mark again validates the functionality Whale claims to deliver is actual, and that the product performs to the standards set by the UK Government.
Whale counts among its customer over 60 government and public sector organizations and agencies worldwide, including in the UK: the Labour Party, Birmingham City Council, Surrey Heath Borough Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, States of Jersey, as well as a number of ministries and government departments. Whale’s client-base also includes household names and Fortune and Global 1000 enterprises such as Virgin Atlantic Airways, the Financial Times, Loews Corporation, Mutual of Omaha, Hasbro and Electronic Arts.
