FRANKFURT, Germany, 17 March 2002 – Whale Communications, a leader in web application security, today announced that Cyprus’s Hellenic Bank has selected Whale’s e-Gap e-Business System to protect its e-banking applications.
Hellenic Bank’s commitment to offering its customers the highest quality service led to the development of its Internet banking system, known as Hellenic Net Banking. This system will allow customers and business partners to have fully secured access to the bank’s data for managing their accounts from anywhere, at any time.
“The confidentiality of our customer data is critical to us,” said Tryfon Christodoulou, Head of Special Projects at Hellenic Bank’s Information Technology Centre. “Because we want to ensure that our most sensitive information will not be compromised, we chose Whale’s e-Gap System to protect our e-banking applications. With the e-Gap System in place we feel confident that our information is safe.”
Whale Communications’ e-Gap e-Business System secures a company’s core web-based business applications, protecting against known and unknown vulnerabilities. Whale’s product suite also includes the e-Gap Webmail Appliance for securing remote email access from any web browser. Whale’s customer base includes industry leaders in finance, banking, energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, healthcare and government.
“It was important for Hellenic Bank to maintain the utmost security while enhancing its operation in a cost-effective manner,” said Alon Mantsur, Head of Security Department at Ness ING (Integration and Networking Group), a leading IT integrator and infrastructure provider in Europe and Israel. Ness will integrate the system. “Whale’s superior web application security is easy to integrate and significantly reduces project deployment cycles as security is offloaded to the e-Gap e-Business System.”
Hellenic’s Net Banking is slated to be available to clients in the near future. It will include: account balance and issuing of statements; payment of bills and credit cards accounts; execution of transactions in Cyprus and abroad; communication between the customer and the bank.
Whale’s e-Gap Webmail System can be seen at CeBIT, March 13-20 in Hannover, Germany, Hall 17, Stand F04.
