GigaSpaces Partners with GridGain to Provide Robust Grid Computing Solution

Joint Solution Combines the Benefits of an Open Source Computational Grid with an Enterprise Data Grid

NEW YORK, NY – October 30, 2007 – GigaSpaces Technologies and GridGain Systems today announced their partnership, which offers a high performance grid computing platform for Java. The joint offering integrates GigaSpaces’ eXtreme Application Platform (XAP) with GridGain’s computation grid framework, enabling businesses to process high volumes of data – transactional or analytical – in extremely short periods of time. In addition, the two companies will cooperate on joint marketing and sales efforts.

GridGain provides an open source computational grid framework that enables Java developers to improve general performance of processing intensive applications by splitting and parallelizing the workload. With GridGain, developers can achieve better overall throughput, better scalability and availability of services.

GigaSpaces XAP provides a single platform for scaling-out the data, messaging and business logic of an application. By integrating the two products, GridGain customers can enjoy a highly-scalable grid computing platform for both computational and data-intensive applications. For maximum performance, GigaSpaces allows GridGain to run computational tasks in the same physical machine in which the relevant data resides in memory. More information about the joint solution can be found at: http://216.93.179.140:8080/wiki/display/GG15UG/GridGigaspacesCheckpointSpi.

“At GridGain, our mission is to provide the best computational grid computing platform for Java that is fun, simple and productive to use,” said Nikita Ivanov, founder and CEO of GridGain Systems. “By integrating GigaSpaces XAP, and specifically, the GigaSpaces Enterprise Data Grid capabilities into our product, we are able to offer our customers just that ? an easy-to-use, high performance platform that speeds up data processing time.”

The GigaSpaces-GridGain partnership is part of an ongoing initiative at GigaSpaces to work closely with the open source community. As part of the relationship, GridGain is distributing GigaSpaces XAP Community Edition, a free version of GigaSpaces’ flagship product. Other open source projects that are integrated with GigaSpaces include the Spring Framework, Mule ESB and Hibernate.

To allow easy integration with open source products, GigaSpaces recently released the OpenSpaces framework, an open source version of its API that extends the Spring Framework and allows developers to easily scale-out and increase the performance and reliability of their applications.

“We are thrilled that GridGain chose to partner with us to provide businesses with cutting-edge computational grid technology,” said Geva Perry, chief marketing officer at GigaSpaces. “This is only the beginning of what we hope will be a long and fruitful partnership, which will strengthen both companies presence in the grid community and provide organizations with solutions to improve business performance.”

“In this competitive marketplace, no company can afford to go it alone ? partners are a vital and essential part of our business,” said Ivanov. “By partnering with GigaSpaces, we are furthering innovation in the open source grid computing marketplace.”
Software developers interested in the use of computational and data grids can find a detailed explanation of such solutions in the white paper: Data-Awareness on the Enterprise Grid, available at: http://www.gigaspaces.com/os_papers.html#dataAwarenessAndLowLatencyOnTheEG.

About GridGain Systems
GridGain Systems started in Pleasanton, Calif., in 2005 by the group of people that realized that traditional grid computing solutions are still largely inadequate for the majority of businesses due to their complexity, high cost, and lack of simple integration with and applicability for mainstream enterprise technologies like JEE. The founders envisioned the open source Java grid computing software that will combine intuitive integration and seamless application of the technology with state of the art grid computing features providing JEE grid enabling solution that is easy to acquire and easy to implement.

About GigaSpaces
GigaSpaces provides a single infrastructure software platform for application scalability and performance. GigaSpaces’ unique approach enables developers to write their business logic as if writing to a single computer and then seamlessly scale out the application linearly anywhere, and on-demand. GigaSpaces customers include leaders in the financial services, telecommunications sectors and government institutions, including: Société Générale, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Dow Jones, Virgin Mobile, Nortel and Hutchison 3G, where the need for mission-critical high-performance, low-latency, reliability and scalability necessitates an alternative to traditional approaches. GigaSpaces was founded in 2000 and has offices in New York, San Francisco, London, Paris and Israel.
