XAP 9.1 Provides Robust, Scalable Real-Time Performance for Enterprise Applications that Handle Massive Event Streams Through Optimized Processing and Enhanced Management & Visibility Features
New York, NY, October 25, 2012 – GigaSpaces announces the release of XAP version 9.1, which provides a new feature set designed to boost real-time handling of streaming events, enabling organizations to gain meaningful insights at the pace of business, build cloud-sourcing applications, and without compromising on factors such as scalability, data consistency, and high availability.
“In a business environment with growing demand for real-time insights on streams of data that are both vast and extremely fast, enterprises need a high-performance, scalable, and reliable platform that provides all their real-time processing needs,” says Uri Cohen, Vice President of Product Management at GigaSpaces. “XAP 9.1 adds new capabilities to the fast and optimized data processing, which XAP 9 introduced earlier this year.”
New features included in XAP 9.1 support the following themes:
Streaming Big Data Processing
If XAP 9.0, released in May of this year, was geared specifically to meet the needs of Big Data, then XAP 9.1 is a direct extension of that undertaking. Focusing on the Velocity aspect of the “3 Vs” of Big Data (Volume, Variety, and Velocity), XAP 9.1 includes in-place updates and optimized partial replication provide faster data updates; XAP has built-in the capability to create or update optimized counters, and a new custom class-based eviction policy provides increased control of data processing.
Manageability & Visibility
XAP 9.1 represents another step in GigaSpaces’ continuous efforts to create management tools that work as smoothly as possible and provide complete visibility of enterprises’ distributed applications and data. XAP 9.1 adds new GUI capabilities with class-loading management, fine-grained client activity monitoring, and event tracing.
Performance & Robustness
“Performance and robustness have always been cornerstones of the XAP platform, and we are in a constant race to outperform ourselves,” says Cohen. “XAP 9.1 adds dynamic lookup service to XAP’s service grid as well as several improvements to performance and stability.” These improvements include optimized automatic client reconnection, as well as enhanced interoperability write between java and .NET using schema-less mode.
