XAP (eXtreme Application Platform) & VMware integration delivers faster processing and more efficient resource utilization in virtualized environments
New York – October 20, 2009 – GigaSpaces Technologies is pleased to announce the release of enhanced support and integration for VMware in its flagship product, XAP (eXtreme Application Platform). GigaSpaces’ enhanced support and integration for VMware enables enterprises to gain a higher ROI by extending the virtualized environment into the application platform.
Using XAP and VMware jointly, businesses can more efficiently utilize private and public clouds and dedicated, on-premise IT resources. XAP’s cloud-tuned technology enables VMware users to quickly achieve a Software as a Service model. These users benefit from faster returns and higher performance for their mission critical applications using XAP’s distributed scalable services for cloud environments, including in-memory data grid, event-based services/processing and map/reduce.
“Companies can now quickly and efficiently leverage hybrid infrastructures, reducing risk and increasing flexibility," says Zeev Bikowsky, GigaSpaces CEO. "The XAP-VMware integration allows them to move applications back and forth between a hosted or on-premise environment and the public cloud.”
The combination of technologies enables organizations to utilize VMware for the widest range of applications by supporting .NET, C, C++, Java, and popular scripting languages. With this VMware-focused solution, enterprises using both VMware and GigaSpaces will be able to move their complex/multi-tier applications to virtualized environments, achieving dynamic scalability, high performance, and fault tolerance in a matter of minutes, without a single code change. The solution includes a set of predefined VMware ESX images, allowing VMware users to leverage XAP as a customizable, single end-to-end platform, operating from the web tier to the storage layer.
This VMware-optimized and tested XAP solution is only the first milestone in GigaSpaces’ structured roadmap for supporting VMware-based environments. In Q1 2010, GigaSpaces will be releasing a comprehensive framework for automating and streamlining the set-up of applications within VMware environments.
“Virtualization has become the standard for reducing long-term data center costs,” continues Bikowsky. “XAP further maximizes resource utilization with its space-based architecture, ensuring a simultaneous increase in efficiency, speed, and reliability.”
A downloadable production package of the preconfigured images will be available on the GigaSpaces website by the end of 2009. Until then, join the webinar demonstrating the solution on October 21, 2009 9 a.m. PT or visit www.gigaspaces.com/vmware for more details.
