GigaSpaces’ CTO to Present Scale-Out Application Findings In Speaking Tour

Nati Shalom to Speak at The Cloud Computing Expo West and QCon

GigaSpaces Technologies today announced that Nati Shalom, founder and CTO, will be presenting at both The Cloud Computing Expo and QCon in three separate speaking engagements.  Shalom is a well-known evangelist of grid technology and cloud computing worldwide.  In his role at GigaSpaces, he has worked with dozens of large organizations in the financial industry, telecommunications and the web on implementing linearly scalable, reliable applications.

Please see below for information related to the events Shalom will be speaking at in November:

The Cloud Computing Expo West

What:   Presentation: "Getting Ready for the Cloud" at 3:25 p.m. PST

Where:  Fairmont Hotel, San Jose, CA

When:   Thursday, November 20, 2008

What:   Two Presentations: "Architecting for Performance and Scalability: Panel Discussion" at 11:00 a.m. PST; and "The End of the Application Server as We've Known It" at 3:45 p.m. PST

Where:  Westin San Francisco Market Street, San Francisco, CA

The Cloud Computing Expo West
In Shalom's Cloud Computing Expo session on November 19, "Getting Ready for the Cloud," he will present the key challenges facing developers as they construct applications to run in highly distributed, on-demand environments presented by Cloud Computing.  The presentation will provide an approach to building applications to run efficiently in such environments, including converting existing JEE applications to a scale-out architecture.  Also included will be a ten minute demonstration on turning an existing tier-based application into a tierless, scaled-out application running on the EC2 Cloud.

At the QCon conference on November 20 at 11:00 a.m. PST, Shalom will participate on a panel discussing "Architecting for Performance and Scalability."  Along with John Fallows of Kaazing, Dmitriy Setrakyan of GridGain and Ari Zilka of Terracotta, Shalom will explore the current and emerging architectures, practices and solutions for achieving predictable performance and scalability.

In his 3:45 p.m. PST presentation, "The End of the Application Server as We've Known It," Shalom will reveal some of the common characteristics of new, highly scalable application servers, while illustrating how to seamlessly migrate an existing Java EE application to a scale-out application.  A live demonstration will also be included in the session, where Shalom will use a cloud-based environment to show how to take an existing Java EE/Spring application and add dynamic scaling, self healing and improved performance with very limited changes to the code.
